💦 And there are also those that become the river itself.
Welcome to Neda. To the ultimate summer river crossing!
One of the most beautiful and special natural landscapes in Greece. A gorge where water dominates from the first to the last moment. A world full of waterfalls, natural pools, sculpted rocks and endless shades of green.
From the bridge of Ancient Figaleia we begin our descent towards the riverbed. A few minutes later the first sounds of water make their appearance and the real adventure begins.
The gorge narrows.
The rocks rise around us.
The water becomes our road.
From here on we do not follow a path.
We follow the flow of the river.
We walk in the water, swim in deep pools, pass under plane trees that seem to spring out of the rocks and discover images that one would hardly imagine are so close to us.
The vegetation is dense and wild.
The scents of sage, oregano and wet soil fill the air.
The water is icy, transparent and refreshing.
Every turn of the gorge reveals a new surprise.
A natural pool.
A narrow passage.
A small waterfall.
A setting reminiscent of a tropical jungle.
According to mythology, Neda was born here, the nymph who took on the task of protecting the newborn Zeus. And indeed, the landscape still seems to carry something of the magic of old legends.
After several hours of playing with water, we reach the grand finale.
The legendary Stomio waterfalls.
The water falls from a height of about 25 meters, creating an impressive blue-green lake. Here we will stop for dives, photos and moments that are difficult to forget.
For the most daring, there is also the passage through the famous "hole" of Neda, where the river disappears into the rock, creating one of the most characteristic points of the entire gorge.
A day full of water.

Bridge of Ancient Figaleia → Aspro Nero Waterfall → Petrogefyro → Stomi Waterfalls → Petrogefyro → Platania
The crossing is carried out without technical passages and without the use of technical equipment.
However, this is an authentic river crossing. We will walk in the river for a large part of the route, while at several points we will need to swim as the depth does not allow for another crossing.

🌊 No previous canyoning experience or technical equipment is required, but basic swimming knowledge and good physical condition are necessary!

✔ River crossing shoes or sports sandals (closed in front to protect the toes). Otherwise, an economical solution is old sports shoes (but with the risk of damaging the soles).
